Traffic Accidents, Causes and Prevention
With the growing population, the
flood of cars, buses, rickshaws, motorcycles, etc. on the roads is also
increasing, every few minutes dangerous traffic accidents have become our
destiny. According to a report of the World Health Organization, 35 to 40
thousand people are killed in traffic accidents in Pakistan every year. On the
roads of Punjab alone, there are an average of 750 traffic accidents per day in
which an average of 9 people are killed every day. A closer look at the causes
of these accidents reveals that ignorance of traffic rules, speeding and
speeding vehicles are the main factors.
Most traffic accidents are
usually driven by human error which can be overcome with a little care. Along
with the assessment of the causes of traffic accidents, the government should
also take steps to reduce the rate of traffic accidents in order to ensure the
safety of precious human lives. Other major causes of traffic accidents include
poor condition of roads, overloading, one-way vandalism, overtaking, breaking
signals, untrained drivers, use of mobile phones while driving, driving without
a license at a young age, brake failure, And the use of long-term tires. But
according to one estimate, the most important reason is the hasty behavior of
road users. About 80% to 90% of traffic accidents are caused by careless speed,
but we are not ready to change our behavior, and this is the main cause of
fatal traffic problems and accidents.
Now teenage boys and even children are seen riding their motorcycles and cars, they do not obey traffic rules due to impulsive behavior and ignore traffic signs and rules, it has also been observed that legal age Despite arriving, most young people are not trained, and their obsession with speeding leads to many accidents. In addition, most drivers of motorcycle rickshaws are minors and novices who do not even have a driving license. Thus, due to ignorance of traffic rules, they risk not only their own lives but also the lives of others, while many people make substandard speed breakers in front of their homes and cause traffic accidents.
Developed countries have
significantly reduced traffic accidents by enacting road safety legislation,
enforcing traffic laws, building roads and making vehicles safer, but there are
a few road safety laws in our country Awareness and then full implementation is
required. The rate of traffic accidents can be reduced if the perpetrators of
traffic violations are punished.
It is the responsibility of the government to ensure the implementation of traffic laws, for which the National Highways and Motorways Police, the traffic police and the concerned authorities must fulfill their responsibilities. For this, road safety education alone is not enough. At the same time, some comprehensive measures are needed to ensure a significant reduction in the accident rate by ensuring road safety. Strict penalties for driving without a license, and parents of underage children should also be punished so as to discourage underage and novice drivers. Traffic awareness subjects should be included in the curriculum for traffic awareness so that the new generation can be saved from future traffic accidents.
In addition to government measures to prevent traffic accidents,
ordinary citizens should be aware of their responsibility to obey traffic laws
and play a positive role in making roads safe from accidents. They should start
their journey with a prayer. And while traveling, care should be taken to avoid
other traffic, especially pedestrians, while avoiding haste.
